Swarga TV




Swarga TV and Swargam TV, are divisions of Rock foundation (Pvt) Ltd,  which broadcast Christian TV programmes in the local languages (Sinhala and Tamil) and English in Colombo and also in the North of Sri Lanka. Programmes are broadcasted 24 hours a day, on rotation, commencing at 6.am every morning.  Programming A 24 hour line-up includes music, interviews, documentaries, preaching and teaching. These programmes are sourced internationally and also produced locally in English and in the local languages.  The line-up of  programmes includes programmes from RBC Ministries, Back to The Bible, Joyce Meyer Ministries, Briscoe Ministry, Jesus Redeems Ministries (Bro. The Buddhist Tv











The Buddhist is the first Buddhist television channel for Sri Lanka. The Buddhist channel studios are located at Sri Sambodhi Vihara (Temple) that is situated in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is available on the Sri Lankan Direct to Home satellite television service Dialog TV. The aim of the channel is to telecast valuable religious and cultural programming in the three main languages of Sri Lanka, English, Sinhala and Thamil. On 29 June 2007, the channel was officially launched by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva and head priest of the Asgiriya chapter in Sri Lanka.

History :

A pious gentleman by the nameof Mr. Muhunthan Canagey, who belongs to the Tamil Community and is a born Hindu who was the CEO of CBN Sat the first ever DTH service

in Sri Lanka, was the originator of this Channel and when this Company was to be acquired by the Dialog TV, he insisted on having a Sri Lankan Buddhist Channel in their religious program package and donated all the equipment including the Studio to Sri Sambodhi Viharaya.

The channel grew out of CCTV International, which was launched on 15 September 2000. CCTV News coverage includes newscasts, in-depth reports, and commentary programs, as well as feature presentations. Its Free-to-air satellite signal can be received by more than 85 million viewers, in over 100 countries and regions.It is also carried by Cable, DTH, IPTV, and Terrestrial TV platforms or systems in many nations. Siyatha Tv






Siyatha TV is a private Sri Lankan analog television channel currently broadcasting in Colombo in the Sinhala language. It is owned by the Voice of Asia Network (Pvt) Ltd, which also runs radio channels named Siyatha FMReal Radio and Vettri FM.

Background : 

Along with their sister channel, Vettri TV, the Voice of Asia network (Pvt) began broadcasting Siyatha TV on September 17, 2009 on E32 UHF.
Siyatha TV is the first Sri Lankan terrestrial channel to go simultaneously on satellite through their own DTH platform. This platform currently carry all VOA Television and Radio channels on Intelsat 906 satellite located at 64´E.
Roshantha Kariyapperuma, owns the Voice of Asia Network which owns Siyatha TV. Roshantha Kariyapperuma's brother, Priyantha Kariyapperuma, is the former Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRC)
Early on July 30, 2010, 12 armed men attacked and firebombed the Sithaya TV and radio station, destroying much of the broadcasting equipment.The gunmen forced the staff to kneel at gunpoint, and injured two of them.

Vasantham Tv
















Sri Lanka introduced the first independent television channel TV service, Sri Lanka's pioneering television company. It was in 1979, in April, was launched on the 13 th. And in 1979, the 5 th of June, the state-owned company. 
This television is also a model for all television stations in the country, lakhanta Sinhala radio service, Spring F. We started the Tamil Radio Service Media Services, an independent media network in Sri Lanka has established itself as a variable. The company's current chairman Mr.Rosman Senaratne has held office.
In 2009, June 25 th, the then chairman of the Independent Television Service Mr. By Anura Siriwardana, independent media network in the Tamil television channel "TV Spring 'began. At the beginning of his services to the Western Province, Spring Television, eventually Jaffna, South Asia's tallest telecommunication tower in the broadcasting towers Coca expanded its services to the whole of the Northern Province. Following the broadcast tower matulcimai Badulla District of Uva Province and the Eastern Province to extend his service as a whole. TV Manager Mr. Spring. M. kulentiran they assumed office.

The complex comprises of a Master Control Room, four Studios, two Dubbing Studios, Digital Post Production Unit, two Analogue Post production Units, several editing suites including Non Linear Editing and four Outside Broadcast vehicles.

Derana Tv











Derana TV is a Sinhalese language free-to-air entertainment television channel broadcasting in Sri Lanka. Launched on 11 October 2005, it is one of the most popular free-to air networks in the country.[citation needed] Its main transmission tower is located in Colombo, and coverage is extended nationwide via substations in Nuwara Eliya, Deniyaya, Gammaduwa, Kandy, and Kalutara.

Programming :

The channel broadcasts a range of entertainment programmes including dramas, reality shows,Kids Programme, music and variety shows. It operates 16 hours a day, between 06:00 and 23:00.[2]

In late 2007, Ada Derana entered into a partnership with Dialog Telekom, the largest mobile phone operator in Sri Lanka, to send breaking news alerts to all Dialog mobile subscribers as text messages.Currently, instant news alerts can be obtained through all the leading mobile phone operators in Sri Lanka.[citation needed]

Derana has hosted the Miss World Miss Sri Lanka pageant since 2007. Derana and Veet are co-sponsors of the upcoming 2012 edition.
Derana has conducted the Derana London Star since May 2008 in London, UK, to find the most talented upcoming singer among the Sri Lankans living in UK. The first edition received around 220 applications, and auditions were broadcast in Sri Lanka by Derana TV. The winners were determined by a panel of judges and public votes via SMS.[citation needed]

Sirasa Tv


Sirasa TV is an analogue terrestrial television network in Sri Lanka. It is the sister channel of 'Channel 1 MTV' which was established in 1992. Sirasa TV was founded in 1998 to similar itself  to their Radio network Sirasa FM. Sirasa TV is owned by the Sri Lankan business conglomerate The Capital Maharaja Organization Ltd together with Gregson Holdings Ltd. Since then, another multi-national company - International Media Management - has also invested in MTV. It broadcasts its programs mainly in Sinhala.Fifteen masked gunmen stormed the studio and transmission complex, and destroyed the main control room of the group on 6 January 2009.Investigations revealed that a Claymore mine was used for the attack.Critics and observers linked the attack to the controversial reporting that was adopted in relation to the capture of Kilinochchi by Government Forces.Opposition political parties and associated media organizations accused the government of being responsible for the attackOn 22 March 2010, a group of protesters held a march at the head office of the MTV/Sirasa media network in central Colombo against American rap singer Akon's show, scheduled to be held in Colombo, which The Capital Maharaja Organization Ltd played a main role organizing. Protesters stoned the building causing minor damage.Also the government banned Akon from coming to Sri Lanka by refusing to grant him a visa, stating that one of his music videos disrespects Buddhism by showing semi-naked women dancing over a statue of Lord Buddha and also highlighting his allegations of child abuse. Finally, the show was cancelled and the government was accused (By Sirasa) of being responsible for provoking the protests.
